Special T Color vinyl paint is an elastomeric coating lacquer, used interchangeably with SEM Color Coat. Special T Color has a wider variety of colours than SEM, and also comes with much brighter and deeper colors. For this reason Special T colors are often a better choice with working on wood.

Special T Color can be used on most vinyl surfaces, flexible and rigid plastics, carpet, velour and wood (must be protected with a top coat Techniclear).. Special T Color is NOT a dye, but is a fade resistant, flexible, and permanent coating.
Although the manufacturer claims this product is a permanent coating, there are limiations and vulnerabilities to the durability, particularly on high wear areas of carpet, or flexible vinyl seat entries.

For best results, use when paint temperature is 70F (21C).
-Shake paint well before use, for 30-60 seconds
-When applying with a paint gun, use at 25 psi for non HVLP and 10-15 for HVLP
-Flash dry in 5 min, ready for use after 24 hours.

DIRECTIONS:
1. Refinishing vinyl - Thoroughly clean vinyl to be restored with both water based cleaner (Ducasol) and solvent based cleaner (Silicone Wash or T-1 prep)
Spray one light to medium coating as a base coat, and allow to dry approximately 5-10 min. Follow with a full wet coat and allow to dry. Apply enough coats to completely hide repair area. Allow 5-10 minutes between coats. Allow 24 hours before sitting on colored seat.

2. Refinishing plastic - Identical instructions as for vinyl, except that once plastic is fully cleaned and dried, it is recommended that one or two coats of Duplicolor Adhesion Promotioer first. Allow to dry five minutes and proceed to coat plastic with Special T Colors.
Note: Some automotive plastic trim pieces come with a thin water based coating that may not require or even be able to handle Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter. When uncertain, test in an obscure spot first.

3. Refinishing carpet - Carpet to be coloured must first be cleaned with Ducasol and air dried or dried with a blow dryer. Any bleach must also be removed and/or neutralized with water before proceding. Color can be dabbed on with a metal rod, and/or sprayed with a spray gun for larger or automotive carpet spraying. Turn psi higher than normal (40-65 psi) and make quick passes with a spray gun. Dry to touch between coats with a blow dryer. Brush carpet pile to a different angle between coatings. Once fully dry, mildly brush the sprayed carpet to ensure carpet returns to a soft feel.

4. Wood and Floor repair and touch up - Remove contaminates to repair area with Ducasol, followed by Silicone Wash or T1 prep. Dry thoroughly. Special T Colors can be brushed on to mimic wood colors and grain. Must be applied in layers, and dried between each layer. Once colors are matched, repair should be coated with Techniclear Gloss or Techniclear Dull, or a blend thereof. Techniclear may also be blended with Special T Colors as desired.
